      Review Medical Terminology

One of the initial challenges students experience while entering medical education is the need to acquire a new language. The basis of this new language is medical terminology; and we encourage you to take ownership of your professional development through one of these potential routes:

      • ÌýReview any prior medical terminology course materials.
      • ÌýPurchase a medical terminology and quiz yourself to assess your current knowledge base and areas that may need improvement. If they are extensive, then consider expanding your studies to include a and work through the appropriate chapters and associated quizzes. The selected resources (workbook and text) are used in many medical professional programs and are geared toward integrating the materials with courses while in school. In essence, they are formatted with graduate medical education courses in mind.
      • ÌýIdentify a low-cost medical terminology course (e.g., online, through a community college) that sets a course structure and maps your completion of reviewing medical terminology.

There will not be a medical terminology exam at the start of the program, but having this knowledge often facilitates your learning new information about medicine.
