Â鶹ÊÓƵ's ninth president, Connie Ledoux Book, delivered her address during her inauguration on Oct. 18, an event that drew thousands to the new Schar Center. Find the full text and a video of her address here. 

The focal point during a celebration lasting through Oct. 20, Thursday's inauguration ceremony in Schar Center drew thousands to mark this significant milestone in the university’s 129-year history.

President Book offers this video message as the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community returns to campus following Hurricane Florence, which devastated the coastal areas of North Carolina and South Carolina and has caused widespread and catastrophic flooding. 

In her first opening address as Â鶹ÊÓƵ's president, Connie Ledoux Book focused on planning for Â鶹ÊÓƵ's future while being mindful of the past. Book delivered the address August 20 to a crowd of faculty and staff gathered in the new Schar Center.
