The fourth annual event, held at �鶹��Ƶ’s School of Communications, will explore the theme of “Sport Sponsorship and Branding in the Digital Age,” and features two panel discussions delving into technology and social media use, as well as how college athletes are leveraging their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights.

�鶹��Ƶ alumnus Erik Kendall ’11 and Assistant Professor Max Negin received a regional Emmy Award last year for their work with the Charlotte Hornets – and have already garnered another Emmy nomination this winter.

Lucas Haskins, �鶹��Ƶ Sports Vision coordinating producer, served on a panel titled “Tools for Growth: The Gear Fueling the Democratization of Live Production.”

Among the award recipients were Claire Latimer ’22, who was presented with the Major of the Year Award, and Brynja Burton ’25, who earned the Rising Phoenix Award.

The executive director of the NFL Players Association served as the keynote speaker for the 2022 �鶹��Ƶ Sport Management Symposium, which delved into the “Changing Dynamics in Sports Media.”

�鶹��Ƶ’s Sport Management Department will host its annual symposium on Wednesday, April 20, featuring a keynote conversation and two expert-led panel discussions. The in-person event will address the “Changing Dynamics in Sports Media.”

The sport management major, who recently completed an internship with the Super Bowl-winning Rams, credits School of Communications faculty and staff for putting her in a position to achieve her professional goals.

In conjunction with the Student Professional Development Center, the School of Communications hosted the COM Meet and Greet on Feb. 22, attracting seven organizations representing a variety of communications-related industries.

While documenting the collegiate golf debut of two-time NBA champion J.R. Smith, Jared Bunder ’22, a cinema and television arts major, captured video that caught the attention of media outlets across the country.

The Department of Sport Management hosted its annual symposium on April 28 featuring a one-on-one conversation with former top NCAA executive and West Virginia Athletic Director Oliver Luck, as well as several panel discussions featuring prominent individuals and student-athletes in collegiate sports.
