Warner is not only a member of the faculty in the Human Services department but is also a mentor, co-leader of an abroad experience and served on the advisory board for community engaged learning. All these positions contribute to Warner’s love for the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community. “My role is to help facilitate the explorationâ€ when talking about his students, he said.

Warner’s favorite aspect of Â鶹ÊÓƵ is its commitment to engaged learning. He enjoys teaching his students more than just memorization by focusing on critical thinking and how information relates to their real lives. Warner describes this aspect of Â鶹ÊÓƵ as a “blend of traditional liberal arts and life preparation.â€ This can speak to his passion for preparing his students for life after Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the work he does.

Working closely with the Service Living and Learning Community is one of Warner’s main roles at Â鶹ÊÓƵ and is one that he enjoys. He described the students as “eager to learn and see how their experiences relate to bigger issues.â€ As much as he describes his students as eager to learn, Warner is also very eager to learn as he refers to himself as a “fellow learnerâ€ with students. “I really want students to know why they think and believe things, not just parrot information or ideas,â€ Warner said.

His ability to foster an environment for students to think critically and engage in their learning is something to be admired about him as a professor.
