Brief Biography

I am an Assistant Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Love School of Business, where I teach undergraduate and MBA courses in strategy and entrepreneurship.

Originally from Mexico, I earned my undergraduate degree in Finance and Accounting and co-founded a hospitality business while still in college. After growing and successfully selling the venture, I moved to the United States for my graduate studies. I hold a Master’s in Strategic Management from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid, an MBA from Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business, and a Ph.D. in Management and Organizational Studies from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

My research explores the socially embedded nature of entrepreneurship, examining how social, cultural, and institutional contexts shape entrepreneurial processes and outcomes. I am particularly interested in understanding how entrepreneurs develop and negotiate their identities, exercise agency, and mobilize resources within different environments. My work examines the roles of family, religion, community, and institutional conditions in enabling or constraining entrepreneurial activity.

I serve on the board of Hustle USA, a faith-driven entreprenurial support organization, and on the Advisory Board of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in Kernersville, NC.

My wife, Pilar, and I have five children and a French bulldog. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf, making pizza from scratch, training for triathlons, and playing board games. I am also a certified Master Mezcalier... think sommelier, but for mezcal.
