Playing in the Interstitial I, Playing in the Interstitial II, Playing in the Interstitial III, and Playing in the Interstitial IV

Session Description
What might we cultivate in the spaces between things? Throughout Design Forge, Mira Azarm will facilitate brief, playful, and relational improvisational experiences designed to spark connection, curiosity, and care. These interactive moments explore the interstitial—the often-overlooked spaces between people, ideas, and experiences where meaningful relationships can take root. Through improvisation, participants will practice letting go of control, embracing uncertainty, listening deeply, and engaging across differences. Together, we’ll explore how intentional moments of play can cultivate the relationships, awareness, and openness that make transformative design possible.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ Mira Azarm
Mira Azarm is a designer, maker, improviser, and educator. She helps people build at low resolution, collaborate radically, and transform wild ideas into meaningful shared experiences. Her work includes co-creating programs, curricula, workshops, and design tools that make innovation more tangible, inclusive, and woven into institutional culture. Mira holds an M.A. in Social Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art and was a Robert W. Deutsch Foundation Social Design Fellow. Her recent practice spans transformative experience design with Odyssey Works, facilitated collective-making projects such as The Scrappy Witches Art Academy, and improv-based learning for students, faculty, and teams navigating change. She is also the self-described Mayor of Toilet Tube Town—equally comfortable building with scrappy materials, imaginary materials, or both.
